The vineyards of Volnay are located between Pommard and Meursault and are almost exclusively planted with Pinot Noir. The grapes for this wine come from the lower vineyards, both from our own possessions and from long-standing partners. Harvested by hand, carefully sorted and 100% destemmed before being spontaneously fermented in a conical wooden fermentation stand by Rousseau. Then matured in 228l French oak barrels (40% new). Classic Volnay, scent of violets, red fruity, sour cherries and roasted spices – cardamom, cinnamon, cloves on the nose. Silky soft on the palate, already accessible but durable, with fresh acidity, length, seductive fruit, some grip. Very balanced. After massive hail damage in 2012, 2013, 2014 and frost damage in 2016, this vintage once again brought something like normality with good harvest volumes, great qualities and healthy grapes. Beginning to be ready to drink, like carafing.
