A blend of three parcels with vines up to 40 years old. No new oak again, with Sebastien re-using barrels that have previously matured his two Grand Crus: Clos Vougeot and Charmes-Chambertin. More darkly fruited than many of the wines in the range, Sebastien notes, “If you can taste blackberries, it’s Gevrey-Chambertin.” The broader shoulders of Gevrey are present in the muscular tannic profile, but the overall sensation is of fruit and freshness on the finish.
