David Duband, who now exploits 17 ha including the former Jacky Truchot vines, told me that the "last 15 days of August saved the harvest. We began picking on the 29th of August and in certain sectors, there was some sorting work to be done but in others, almost none. I'm not sure why exactly but it seems to me that the clones seemed to have more of it than the massale selections. Sugars were quite good at between 12.8 and 13% and around 12% in the Hautes Côtes. I also used some whole cluster fermentation as I like the results from the experiments that I have tried. The wines should be enjoyable young but age well too because they're balanced." Duband has been gradually reducing the amount of new oak used and it now varies between 30 and 40% and the wines are normally bottled without filtration. I was impressed with what I found and Duband is clearly on an upward quality path with his wines
