The Noëllat name has been a name synonymous with Vosne-Romanée throughout the ages. Perhaps most famous of all was Domaine Charles Noëllat, who until 1988 was licensee to some of Vosne’s greatest vineyards, which eventually formed the vast majority of Domaine Leroy, amongst others her original and present day parcel of Clos Vougeot. His nephew Georges Noëllat sold its remaining production on a 20-year lease to Jadot and Drouhin between 1990 and 2010 until Domaine Georges Noëllat resumed ownership of the estate under the reins of then 20-year-old, rising star winemaker Maxime Cheurlin. In the interim period between 1990 and 2010, various wines continued to be produced and marketed under the Charles Noëllat name, but under a négociant label, not domaine. One of the favorites we worked with in the past to great success has been this 2001 Clos Vougeot, which we've just obtained another stash of ex-cellar in pristine condition.
